New Development of Intelligent Packaging in China
At present, the universal application of intelligent packaging in the world has just begun, and some technologies are still in the experimental and research stage. How to seize this opportunity, develop the packaging industry in China, and enhance the technical content of packaging in order to meet the needs of the international economic situation under the new situation is an unavoidable problem.
Intelligent packaging needs to be developed urgently

Intelligent packaging is a powerful measure to ensure food safety, which needs to be developed urgently.
Intelligent packaging has gained enough attention and development in developed countries, but in China, the research and development of intelligent packaging and its application in various fields are still in the initial stage. But at the same time, he pointed out that, from another point of view, although the application of intelligent packaging in China lags behind that in developed countries, there is a broad profit margin waiting to be tapped in the intelligent packaging market in China.
Differential Development of Intelligent Packaging at Home and Abroad
Generally speaking, only TTI, MGI, photochromic indicator, physical impact indicator, leakage, microbial contamination indicator, radio frequency tag (RFID), DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) tag are defined as intelligent packaging in foreign countries, while modified atmosphere packaging, antimicrobial packaging and ethylene adsorption are defined as intelligent packaging. Packaging, oxygen absorption packaging, self-heating/self-cooling packaging, odor absorption packaging, aroma release packaging, moisture absorption packaging are defined as functional packaging.
In terms of functional packaging, domestic modified atmosphere packaging and aroma release packaging are relatively mature; gas adsorption packaging (hygroscopicity, ethylene absorption, oxygen absorption) is generally in the form of fragrant bags with low technical content, while gas adsorption packaging developed abroad can blend non-toxic adsorbents into the film resin interior; other functional packaging and many intelligent packaging in me. China is still almost blank.
In addition, in these smart packaging, RFID (Identified Radio Frequency) tag is a well-known area of the domestic public. At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the government strengthened the supervision of drugs and food, which promoted the use of RFID tags in China, and had more applications in logistics, packaging, retail, manufacturing and other industries. Intelligent identification technology will be applied in some fields (such as medicine, high-grade food), but China will not become a big consumer of RFID tags, because according to the consumption level of the broad masses of the people, intelligent identification technology has not entered the daily consumer market of the people.
Factors Influencing the Development of Intelligent Packaging in China
High cost has always been one of the main factors hindering the development of intelligent packaging. The popularization and application of packaging chips and printable antennas and circuits are not as simple as traditional printing. The technology of how to install and manage related infrastructure, how to place electronic readers, and how to retrieve, use and store label information is complex and expensive. Therefore, product transformation can not be achieved by all domestic packaging and printing enterprises. At present, there are still some gaps in their investment in intelligent packaging technology, talent introduction, equipment and material updating.
Due to the lack of common people's awareness of the importance of packaging, the price of intelligent packaging is high and there is no market, which affects the development and promotion of products. Therefore, the state should actively advocate the use of intelligent packaging, even compulsory use, in order to better curb counterfeit and inferior products. At the same time, in the field of food packaging, the state should increase investment in scientific research, encourage independent research and application for national research projects, and introduce necessary soft packaging testing equipment.
Research units should strengthen personnel training, speed up research and development, actively cooperate with flexible packaging production enterprises, and transform technology into productivity as soon as possible. For soft packaging enterprises, China's soft packaging market has just started, and there is a large market space. Even in the "severe winter" time, enterprises should increase investment in new product development, strengthen the cooperation with universities or research institutions, occupy the priority market, and broaden the development path of enterprises.
